Location: Lady’s Island, SC Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $70,500 – $106,600, dependent on qualifications Application Deadline: Until filled Position Summary: The Lady’s Island – St. Helena Fire District is seeking a dedicated and committed Training Officer to lead and enhance our training programs for fire personnel. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in fire service operations, excellent communication skills, and a passion for educating and developing firefighters to ensure our organization provides the highest level of service to our citizens. Key Responsibilities: • Develop, implement, and evaluate training programs for all levels of fire department personnel. • Conduct regular training sessions, drills, and exercises to maintain and improve skills in firefighting, emergency medical response, and rescue operations. • Stay updated on current fire service practices, regulations, and technology to incorporate into training programs. • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to conduct joint training exercises. • Assess training needs and recommend improvements based on performance evaluations and feedback. • Maintain training records and documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. • Mentor and coach personnel in their professional development. • Prepare reports and presentations on training initiatives and outcomes. • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to serve as a command officer. Minimum Qualifications: • Minimum of 8 years of experience in fire service, with at least 2 years in a training or leadership role. • Certification as a Fire Officer II • Certification as an Instructor II • Strong knowledge of firefighting techniques, equipment, and safety protocols. • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. • Proficient managing computer programs Preferred Qualifications: • 10 years of experience • NREMT, Advanced EMT or Paramedic • EMT instructor or able to obtain within 1 year of employment Benefits: • Competitive salary and outstanding health benefits. • PEBA retirement system. • Ongoing professional development opportunities. • Supportive and collaborative work environment.
