Apply for the 2021 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant

South Carolina fire departments serving rural communities with a population of 10,000 or less are eligible for a grant through the SC Forestry Commission.

The SC Forestry Commission is now accepting applications for the 2021 Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA)/National Fire Plan (NFP) Grant. This grant is often referred to as the "forestry" grant within the fire service.

Priority will be given to those applying for the first time, assisting with SCFC Firewise Communities, purchasing communications equipment (especially radios), and needing to purchase equipment to outfit their federal excess equipment loaned or provided by SCFC.

Application deadline is October 15, 2021 and please note that all applications must be post marked by the deadline date. Visit the Forestry website to access application documents. Print and mail the original paperwork to Leslie Woodham at PO Box 21707, Columbia SC 29221.
