Responsibilities: You will work with fire and emergency service organizations and personnel to research, write, develop and edit instructionally sound teaching materials. You will coordinate with other Curriculum team members to create instructional elements for fire and emergency service courses, such as audio-video presentations, student materials, instructor lesson plans, story boards, and supplemental materials that support course delivery. You will provide instruction delivery for course pilots and instructor previews. You will perform a variety of other duties in support of the Curriculum section of the Fire Academy. Minimum
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in school administration, education, special education, counseling or a related field and experience in educational programs and curriculum editing. (A combination of education, relevant training, and/or experience may be considered in substitution for the bachelor's degree upon approval by Human Resources.)
Preferred Qualifications: -Fire service experience specific to instruction or curriculum development may be considered for degree equivalency. -Mastery skill level using computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro. -Substantial knowledge of curriculum development and curriculum production. -Knowledge of occupational training and fire service training techniques and requirements. -Excellent interpersonal skills. -Ability to work in a team environment. -Ability to act as a liaison between the curriculum staff and external stakeholders. -Ability to interact with the public and/or other agencies that reflects the values and mission of the South Carolina State Fire Academy. Other Requirements -Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (15 to 29 hours per week) -Occasional daily, overnight or weekend travel. -Must be able to stoop and lift 50 lbs.
