Jerry Williams Memorial Plaza
The Jerry Williams Memorial Plaza was constructed by the South Carolina State Association of Fire Chiefs and the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association in conjunction with the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation to honor South Carolina Fallen Firefighters.
The plaza and statute found on the grounds of the Fallen Firefighter Memorial Garden are dedicated to Chief Jerry Williams through House Bill 3179. Chief Williams was instrumental in the creation and upkeep of the Fallen Firefighter Memorial Garden. Chief Williams and his grandson, Stevie, were used as the model for the statute in the Memorial Garden. The life and legacy of Chief Williams are cemented in the history of the South Carolina fire service with this honor.
Bricks in the Jerry Williams Memorial Plaza are available for purchase. Family and friends of firefighters who have passed on may purchase bricks in memory of their loved one; or bricks may be purchased in recognition of a fire department or firefighter.
