Upcoming deadlines, events & trainings

January 10, 2025

We’re hosting a number of events and trainings in the first half of 2025, and we hope to see you a time or two in the coming months. This list is sure to grow; follow us on social media (@scfirefighters on most platforms) and check our website for new training announcements.

Before we get into the events in the first half of 2025, there are a few important deadlines to keep in mind.

January 31 – Award nominations are due

South Carolina firefighters train rigorously so they are prepared when disaster strikes. The 2024 hurricane season was one of the most active in recent memory, presenting countless challenges and opportunities for our firefighters to showcase their extraordinary skills and unwavering commitment to saving lives and property.

Now is the moment to recognize South Carolina firefighters for their remarkable achievements and acts of bravery.

Your nomination not only honors their hard work but also inspires others. If your community was impacted by the hurricane season, tell us about the life saving work your crew did during the response to Tropical Storm Debby and Hurricane Helene and allow us the opportunity to recognize them!

Don’t let this opportunity pass by. Nominations are due January 31!

January 1 – Membership Invoices payment and Voting Member selections were due

The due date for your departments' 2025 Association Membership Invoice and Voting Member selection was January 1, 2025. If you’ve already sent your payment and selected your Voting Members, please disregard this message. A $100 late fee will be charged to all member departments who have not paid their dues by January 31. To remain in good standing and receive the 1% Firemen’s Insurance and Inspection fund, a department must pay the dues and confirm their 2025 voting members. If you need assistance with payment or selecting Voting Members, please reach out to us at [email protected] or 803-454-1800. Membership invoice payment and Voting Member selection should be submitted as soon as possible.

January 31 – Forms are due

The 2024 SCSFA MMS (Member Management System) Database online Forms 206 and 207 are due midnight January 31, 2025. Your department's Profile & Statistician Report Form 101 should also be completed within the MMS. All forms must be completed no later than midnight January 31, 2025. If we do not receive the forms by the deadline date, your department will be jeopardizing their Firemen's Insurance & Inspection Fund distribution and the loss of SCSFA Member Benefits. Please do not let this be an issue with your department.

March 26—Legislative Day

Our annual Legislative Day is your opportunity to meet with representatives at the State House and discuss the issues that matter most to your community and department. By attending Legislative Day, you can help shape the policies that will impact your work and the safety of your community.

Your presence at Legislative Day shows your community that you are willing, ready, and able to take an active role in shaping the policies that impact how you operate. This is your opportunity to show your dedication to the fire service and your desire to make a difference.

Attending Legislative Day is a valuable learning experience for seasoned and new firefighters. You will have the opportunity to mingle with members of the legislature and see how the Association’s grassroots efforts are working for you.

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend Legislative Day on March 26 at the State House– your voice matters!
