Transport plans for Chief Satcher and Firefighter Bodie

Convoy is leaving the hospital at approximately 11:30 a.m. and taking an adjusted route.

Updated route:

• Highway 76 to Highway 391 into Saluda County
• Before Saluda Traffic Circle, turn right on Spann, take Spann to stop sign, turn left onto Columbia Highway
• Saluda Traffic Circle to exit to Highway 378 East
• Continue east on 378 and take right on Holly Ferry Road
• Left on Summerland Highway
• Continue on Summerland Highway then right at fork onto Summerland Ave
• Continue Summerland Ave continue to Line St then continue to Pine Street and arrive at Milton Shealy Funeral Home

The South Carolina fire service is mourning the loss of two of our own. Saluda County Fire Service’s Circle Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chad Satcher and Firefighter Landon Bodie were killed in the line of duty during response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

Chief Satcher and Firefighter Bodie are being transported from Newberry County Memorial Hospital to Milton Shealy Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 1, departing the hospital at approximately 11 a.m.

The convoy, escorted by Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and Saluda County Sheriff’s Office, will take the following route:

• Highway 76 to Highway 391 into Saluda County
• Saluda Traffic Circle exit to Highway 378 East
• Continue east on 378 and take right on Holly Ferry Road
• Left on Summerland Highway
• Continue on Summerland Highway then right at fork onto Summerland Ave
• Continue Summerland Ave continue to Line St then continue to Pine St and arrive at Milton Shealy Funeral Home
