Spotlighting our South Carolina Fire-Rescue Speakers: Master Firefighter Ryan Murphy

August 7, 2025

Last week, we spotlighted Captain Kavin Manhardt of Horry County Fire Rescue, who was a first-time Fire Rescue Speaker. Today, we are proud to introduce yet another dedicated Fire-Rescue speaker: Master Firefighter Ryan Murphy from the Myrtle Beach Fire Department - Station 3.

Instructing on truck company operations and mental readiness, Murphy has spoken at four Fire-Rescue Conferences. He sees each conference as a privilege to share the invaluable information that the fire service has taught him.

“Speaking at Fire-Rescue means a lot to me because I am able to pass on job knowledge that many other [firefighters] have taken the time to share with me throughout my career,” he said. “It allows me to keep the torch burning and positively impact [firefighters] throughout our state.”

Murphy hopes that firefighters leave his classes with not only new knowledge, but also a passion further to seek out improvement and training in their firefighting skills.

“Many times, classes only scratch the surface of a specific operation or topic,” he said. “I strive to [pique] students' interest to the point that they seek out more classes and train more to continue developing their fireground skills.”

It is our privilege to have teachers like Ryan Murphy speak at Fire-Rescue. He brings great amounts of wisdom and passion to the fire service, and for that, we could not be more grateful. We look forward to seeing him again at next year's Fire-Rescue Conference!
