As part of the award for the four year recruitment and retention grant, a coordinator was to be hired for grant oversight and operation. President Gibson is proud to announce that he, staff, and the Recruitment and Retention Chair have unanimously agreed to bring on board Mr. John Mitchell of Hobbysville for this role.
John started in the fire service as a Hot Shot Crewman in 1963, served as a volunteer firefighter and is currently a fire chief at a volunteer department in Spartanburg County. He was educated at Camden Military Academy and Wofford College and served in the U. S. Army. He brings an extensive business background to the position and is well versed in volunteer issues. He has served on the Joint Council and is immediate Past President of the SC Society of Fire Service Instructors.
