SCSFA Past President Jerry Williams passed away on June 25, 2021 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Chief Williams' obituary is below or you can read it here. Service arrangements are included below. The SCSFA Executive Committee, staff and 17,500 members offer our deepest condolences to the family of Ret. Chief Williams.
John Jerry Williams, 83, went to be with the Lord on June 25, 2021 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC.
He was the son of the late J. Ray Williams and Lucille Faulkenberry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ray Williams.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Neely’s Creek Church Cemetery with Rev. Larry Young officiating. The visitation will follow in the church sanctuary and at other times at the home of his son, Johnny Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri Neely Williams; his son, Johnny Williams (Kristina and her daughter, Sutton); his daughter, Deborah Ann Williams; two grandsons, Stevie Williams (Alanna) and Jordan Williams along with Stevie and Jordans mother, Sherry Williams; two stepdaughters, Lisa Beliveau (William) and Ginger Boucher; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Jerry graduated from Rock Hill school in 1956 and he served in the National Guard for 10 years. He was a fireman and was the Chief of Lesslie Fire Department for over 60 years. He was chairman of York County Council and worked for the York County Fire Training Center. Jerry served as a Past President of the South Carolina State Fire Association and as Association of SC Fire Chief’s. Jerry was inducted in the Hall of Fame and was SC Chief of the year in the past.
Jerry owned and operated Williams Grading Service, Lesslie Welding Fabricating and Lesslie Pump Testing Service.
He was a member of Neely’s Creek ARP Church.

After the graveside service at the church cemetery, a Celebration of Life visitation will be held in the Neely’s Creek ARP Church Family Life Center.
Fire apparatus wishing to follow the hearse from Greene Funeral Home Northwest, located at 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, to the church needs to be there before 1:30 pm.
Fire apparatus wishing to be at the church, please be there before 1:30 pm.
