Palmetto Heroes program provides SC firefighters with housing assistance

April 1, 2021

If you’ve browsed Zillow in the last six months looking for your first home, chances are the prices climb every time you visit the website or open the app. Demand is increasing the cost of homes across the state, up nearly 16 percent from 2020. It’s no surprise that many South Carolinians are struggling to afford down payments and closing costs.

SC Housing, a self-sustaining agency committed to ensuring that Palmetto State residents have the opportunity to live in safe, decent, and affordable housing, is offering frontline workers historically low, fixed-rate mortgages and up to $12,000 in down payment assistance through its 2021 Palmetto Heroes program. Borrowers must be first-time homebuyers who meet income eligibility requirements.

The Palmetto Heroes program is open and more details can be found on the SC Housing website. Contact the SC Housing Lender Help Desk at 803.896.2211 or [email protected].
