Several departments are utilizing their one percent funds to cover their employees 100%. Career and Volunteer firefighters have the risk of suffering a work related injury. Worker’s Compensation covers 66% of a career employee’s salary and an estimated $186 per week for volunteers. Most firefighters have a second job to make ends meet. A line of duty injury may cause one not to be able to perform the duties of a secondary job. Loss of work will cause a financial gap or hardship. Do not let this happen to you. Choose to utilize your funding in a way that bridges the gap. We would love to visit your department to present options that will help prevent you and your co-workers from facing financial hardships.
