New Chief Officer Training

June 7, 2013

Guest Post by Mr. Mike Dunlap, S.C. Fire Academy Curriculum Section The S.C. Fire Academy, in partnership with the National Fire Academy, the S.C. State Firefighters' Association, and the S.C. State Fire Chiefs' Association, is pleased to announce two new Fire Chief Officer training opportunities: The New Fire Chief I and Politics and the White Helmet. The S.C. Fire Academy has been awarded the opportunity to deliver these new courses under the auspice of the National Fire Academy. The New Fire Chief I is an introduction for the new chief officer. Topics include Responsibilities of the Fire Chief, Politics, Liability/Risk Management, and Toolbox/Resources. This new 16-hour class is a must for every Chief Officer. Politics and the White Helmet is a 16-hour introduction to local politics to the Fire Chief Officers and includes three units: Politics 101, Leadership Essentials, and Creating the Future.  This is a great class for all Chief Officers. Instructors are needed to teach these new classes. A Train-the-Trainer course will be conducted on July 29-30 at the SC Fire Academy’s Columbia Campus to prepare instructors to teach these two classes.  We are looking for Chief Officers who possess the passion for teaching; those who care about improving our service. The application process will be conducted online through the S.C. Fire Academy’s Online Learning Community.  Please check HERE for all the requirements and information necessary to apply. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact Mike Dunlap, Instructional Developer at [email protected] or Rick Dunn, Instructional Design Supervisor at  [email protected]. We look forward to your application! http://scfaonlinetraining.org/mod/page/view.php?id=1965
