 President Ken Kerber is pleased to announce that Rev. Dr. Gary Rogers has accepted the position of the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association Chaplin.  A search committee had been formed to assist with this important selection and made their recommendation last week.  Dr. Rogers is currently pastor of Pelham First Baptist Church in Greer S.C. and has faithfully served as Chaplain for the Pelham-Batesville, Greer and Boiling Springs Fire Departments. He has also served a number of other public safety organizations as well as serving as an active volunteer firefighter with Pelham-Batesville and Boiling Springs Fire Districts.  Dr. Rogers has completed training in Critical Incident Stress Management, Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Postvention as well as Grief Support training.  He has also received specialized training for the Local Assistance State Team (LODD) Training through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.  He has also completed 1152 Fundamentals of Basic Interior Structural Firefighting from the South Carolina Fire Academy as well as other additional courses offered by the Academy.  Dr. Rogers resides in Greer and is married and has two children.  He will begin his duties with the Association immediately.
