You will find apparatus and equipment decon is often missed as we have put an emphasis on turnout gear, gloves and hoods along with SCBAs, but we forget the apparatus. As fires happen, the apparatus is collecting the cancer-causing agents as well. Washing the apparatus has and will always be paramount along with cleaning the equipment or tools. Commercial companies are providing various items to assist you with deconning equipment, apparatus and the most important thing our personnel. The below website is just one of 100 websites out there for our fire departments. https://ten8fire.com/equipment/firefighting-equipment-categories/decon/ We have also seen the “clean cab” concept that has been presented. It has mixed reviews, but we should look at all avenues in making our job as safe for our firefighters as possible. https://www.iaff.org/wp-content/uploads/FFCancer_CleanCab.pdf
