Leadership Institute yesterday met at Clarendon County Fire Rescue to learn about the history of the combination department and the challenges and opportunities they faced merging EMS and fire services. The Leadership Institute experience exposes participants to a side of the job some don’t get to see.
Retired CCFR Chief Carter Jones founded the department in 1977 and a few decades later recognized the need for emergency medical services for the community. After almost five decades, the vision Chief Jones had for the department is coming to fruition.
Chief Jason Dennis presented on the nuts and bolts that make CCFR run, and touched on the data that they use to guide decision-making.
Thanks to Chief Dennis and CCFR for a boat ride on the lake to see the department’s waterfront coverage area.
It was an excellent day learning about a combination career/volunteer and fire/EMS department. Thank you, Chief Dennis and Clarendon County Fire-Rescue, for sharing your knowledge and time with this group!
The cohort heads to State Fire next month to learn about its role and the statewide assets available.
Applications for the next LI cohort are due August 31! https://lnkd.in/g86Z-DXk
