Helmet fronts, challenge coins available to support children with autism

The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association has partnered with Taylor’s Tins to design three variations of helmet fronts, a key chain, and a challenge coin in support of children with autism. The announcement comes ahead of Autism Awareness Month in April.

Funds raised through the sale will be distributed between Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment and sponsorships for autistic children to attend summer camp.

“The Unumb Center is thrilled to partner with the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association,” said Anslie Patrick, Executive Director. “We are inspired by the firefighters across South Carolina who protect our communities and go above and beyond to support initiatives like ours. Through this partnership, we hope to raise awareness and funds, and educate families impacted by autism and other special needs about the importance of emergency preparedness.”

Randy Arant, Irmo Fire District Battalion Chief and Association 4^th Vice President, spearheaded the project.

“The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association’s Executive Committee and staff are proud to support the autism community through our fundraiser with Taylors Tins,” said Chief Arant. “April is Autism Awareness Month, and we’re honored to play a small part in bringing awareness and raising funds for such a great cause.”

Taylor McLaughlin, owner of Taylor’s Tins, is a former Cape Girardeau, Missouri, firefighter. He started his shields business in 2017 and believes strongly in giving back to the community.

“When the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association reached out to do autism awareness products, we jumped at the opportunity. We think this could be our biggest fundraiser yet,” said McLaughlin.

Those who wish to purchase any of the available items must use the Association’s designated link. If you attempt to recreate the Taylor’s Tins helmet front template yourself, the price will be significantly higher and a portion of the proceeds will not be contributed to the fundraiser.
