Retired North Charleston Fire Department Chief Greg Bulanow has joined the staff of the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association as Leadership Development Coordinator.

Chief Bulanow's career in the fire service started in 1996 when he joined the North Charleston Fire Department. He advanced through the ranks from recruit Firefighter to appointment as Chief of the Department in 2009. Chief Bulanow holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Cedarville College and a master’s degree in Management from Southern Wesleyan University. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program and credentialed as a Chief Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Chief Bulanow is a past chair of the Health and Safety Committee, served on the Leadership Institute Steering Committee, and will bring a wealth of knowledge to the Association and our members.

As Leadership Development Coordinator, Chief Bulanow will work with the Leadership Institute and assist with the development and implementation of Fire Chief 101.

“I always loved working with the Leadership Institute during my time as Fire Chief in North Charleston,” Chief Bulanow says. “With the Leadership Institute program and others, the Firefighter’s Association is providing wonderful professional development opportunities for fire officers up through the executive level. I'm thrilled to be working with the Association to enhance these programs that will prepare the next generation of leaders of the South Carolina fire service.”

“We’re excited to have Chief Bulanow join us on staff to bring fresh and new ideas to our leadership programs," South Carolina State Firefighters' Association Executive Director Jamie Helms says. "We’re looking forward to having him on our team as we continue to develop the future leaders of the South Carolina fire service."

Welcome, Chief Bulanow!
