Grants Awarded to Six Career and Technology Centers

The first impact of the new Recruitment and Retention grant is being felt across the state.  The Recruitment and Retention committee awarded grants to six Career and Technology Centers that are teaching the fire curriculum.  This money will go to strengthen the courses by adding equipment and supplies that are needed as they produce qualified firefighters to the departments throughout the state. This is the beginning of the effort to recruit and retain more volunteer members.  The grant includes scholarships to students, revised course materials from the Fire Academy for use by the departments and a new “Fire Chief 101” course to help train officers.  More to come….stay tuned!
