South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster proclaimed January 15-21, 2024 as Community Risk Reduction Week in the state to encourage South Carolinians to learn more about the grassroots initiative to raise awareness of the importance of CRR in making our communities safer places to live and work.
According to the Community Risk Reduction Week website, “CRR Week is a grass-roots effort by an informal group of fire safety professionals from across the nation. The idea is to help promote the awareness of Community Risk Reduction within the fire service by having a week where everyone can do CRR programs and demonstrate its importance to the fire service.”
South Carolina State Fire Marshal CRR Section Chief Josh Fulbright sits on the Executive Committee of CRR Week. Chief Fulbright’s work in fire and life safety through FireSafe South Carolina has saved the lives of countless South Carolinians and the program’s impacts are garnering international recognition.
Departments interested in participating in CRR Week can access resources on the CRR Week website.
