Obituary
Edward Charles Johns, Jr., age 57, beloved husband of 20 years to Patricia Grace Franklin Johns, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at his residence while surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Mildred Ione Hendricks Johns and the late Edward Charles Johns, Sr. Ed was a retired firefighter for the United States Air Force. In recent years he worked as a funeral attendant and Cemetery Operations Director for Bullock Funeral Home. In addition, Ed was a major advocate for the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association and its support of firefighters in need. He loved music and even taught himself to play the bass guitar. A gifted carpenter, woodworker, and exceptional cook, Ed enjoyed sharing his talents with others. He was an avid outdoors-man, enjoying hunting, fishing and kayaking. His true joy in life was serving God through Gateway Baptist Church. His family, whether related by blood or by choice, were both loved equally. His uniquely contagious laughter, love of coffee and his ability to do almost anything will be remembered and cherished forever.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are two sons: Calvert Johns (Dusti) of Roundup, MT, and Kevin Johns (Jamie) of Havre, MT; three grandchildren: Zi Johns, Elijah Johns, and Breyson Johns.
In addition to his father, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, William David Johns and two sisters, Vivian Holmes and Nancy Johns.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at 3:00 P.M. in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. in the Beaufort National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 8, 2015, from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Courson, Ken Elmore, Trey Franklin, Al Strickland, Brett Strickland, and Don Spitzer.
