Funeral Arrangements for Chief Carr

Charleston, SC (April 26, 2013): The Charleston Fire Department would like to thank the community and the fire service for all of the heartfelt condolences and support. The Carr family is very appreciative of the outpouring. The Carr family and the members of the Charleston Fire Department invite the community to commemorate the life of Chief Thomas Carr. Funeral arrangements are as follows:
- Visitation: Sunday, April 28, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Stuhr's Funeral Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, West Ashley.
- Service: Monday, April 29, 2:00 p.m., St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Meeting Street and Broad Street, Downtown Charleston.
- Procession: There will be an apparatus procession to escort Chief Carr's ashes from St. Michael's Church to Magnolia Cemetery.
- Burial: immediately following services, Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston
Additional information:
- We would like to request all emergency services personnel attending the visitation or the services to wear their Class A Uniform.
- Departments that would like to send apparatus or emergency vehicles to participate in the procession should contact Battalion Chief Mark Davis via email at [email protected] by 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27th. Please include the type, number of apparatus, and number of staff attending. Chief Davis will be coordinating the parking and procession plan. Apparatus will assemble at or near St. Michael's Church. Specific direction for assembly will follow from Chief Davis once he has a count of apparatus.
- Departments that are sending personnel, without apparatus, to the service on Monday should contact Department Secretary Pam Blevins via email at [email protected] by 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27th. This will ensure adequate seating is planned for the service.
Media: A media area will be established outside of St. Michael’s Church during the service. The family has requested privacy during the burial service.
