Free NVFC training is coming to Due West

March 25, 2026

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is offering two free courses on Saturday, May 30, 2026, hosted by the Abbeville County Fire Service. If you're looking to strengthen your department from the inside out, this is worth your time.

What's Being Offered

The day includes two back-to-back trainings running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

The first course, Volunteer Fire Service Culture: Essential Strategies for Success, is based on the NVFC's published textbook of the same name. It's designed for department leaders who want to shift the culture around personal health and safety by covering what needs to change and how to get there.

The second course, Building a Healthy and High-Performing Fire Department, is a joint effort between the NVFC and the American Psychological Association's Center for Organizational Excellence. It walks leadership through six core practices all aimed at building stronger, healthier departments: member involvement, health and safety, growth and development, work-life-volunteer balance, member recognition, and communication.
