Fire-Rescue accommodations: Protect yourself from hotel scams

We’ve recently been notified of a scam targeting attendees and exhibitors ahead of Fire-Rescue in June.

The Sheraton Hotel will never call you to solicit or arrange room bookings.

Here are a few tips to help protect yourself against these all-too-common scams:

• Only book your room directly with the hotel. Do not go through third-party callers or unsolicited emails.
• Be cautious of unexpected phone calls or messages offering discounted rates or claiming to represent the hotel.
• Never provide payment or personal information to anyone who contacts you out of the blue.
• If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact the hotel directly using a verified phone number to confirm your reservation.

Scammers often target large events like ours, knowing many attendees are making travel plans. Staying alert and booking directly with the hotel is the best way to ensure your reservation is secure.
