Fire-Rescue 2023: What you need to know

April 24, 2023

We’re weeks away from Fire-Rescue and we hope to see you and your family in Myrtle Beach, June 14-17! To make your experience as streamlined and enjoyable as possible, we’ve outlined a few important details ahead of your trip.

Registration
There is no pre-registration because conference is free for members and classes are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Check-in at the kiosks when you get to the Convention Center to get your badge and pick up guest badges for your family.

Hotels
June is prime time for Myrtle Beach tourism so go ahead and book your room if you haven’t yet. We’ve got a list of hotels near the Convention Center to help you narrow down your search.

Golf tournament
The South Carolina Firefighters Foundation Golf Tournament is on Wednesday, June 14, at Legends Golf Resort. Tee-time is 8:30 a.m. sharp. Register your team or as an individual. We saw record turnout last year and hope to continue the upwards trend of participants and money raised for South Carolina firefighters.

Silent auction
The Foundation is also hosting a silent auction throughout Fire-Rescue. Items include driving experiences, collectable items, wine tastings, and more. Bidding closes on Saturday, June 17 at noon.

Beach Bash
South Carolina Firefighters Insurance Services is excited to host Beach Bash on Wednesday evening starting at 5 p.m. at Crocodile Rocks at Broadway at the Beach. Thanks to sponsors, food, drinks, and entertainment are on the house. It is going to be a great time!

Opening ceremonies
Fire-Rescue officially kicks off with the Opening Ceremonies and Business Meeting on Thursday, June 15 at 9 a.m. Join us and hear from keynote speaker Commander Rorke T. Denver.

Exhibit hall soft opening
The Thursday night exhibit hall soft opening is your first glimpse at the extensive vendor hall. We’ll see you there from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Course schedule
The course schedule is jam-packed this year and offers a variety of course types. We’ve partnered with the South Carolina EMS Association to offer EMS/medical courses, and the T&E Committee took special interest in offering family-centered courses at conference this year. Take a look at the schedule and make a note of what classes pique your interest. Remember, everything is on a first-come, first-serve basis; we encourage you to get your seat early.

Explorer/Jr Competition
We know the future of the fire service is bright and in good hands. The Explorer and Junior Firefighter Competition on Friday, June 15 at 1 p.m. is a friendly showcasing of skills from Explorer and Junior programs across the state. Sign up before May 31 to participate.

Fire Safe South Carolina
Fire Safe South Carolina designees will be recognized on Saturday, June 17 at 1 p.m. This designation signifies dedication and hard work by the department for its commitment to reduce fire-related injuries, promote consistent fire safety messaging, and stress the importance of collecting accurate fire scene data. Congratulations to the 132 Fire Safe communities.

Banquet and Awards Ceremony
Our Banquet & Transfer of Command Ceremony is the official conclusion of Fire-Rescue on the evening of June 17 at 6:30 p.m. Please join us as we recognize award winners and swear in incoming officers. Tickets are required.
