Fire Investigator Safety and Health Photovoice Study

October 27, 2025

We often talk about the very important topic of health and safety risks for firefighters, but it is equally as important to discuss those same risks as it pertains to fire investigators.

Fire investigators work to determine a fire’s origin and cause, often entering hazardous environments even after the flames have been extinguished. Due to lingering toxins and contaminants, the investigators are faced with numerous health risks such as respiratory and heart disease, as well as various types of cancer.

In order to better understand these risks, We invite you to participate in the FLARE (Fire Investigators’ Lived Awareness of Risks and Exposures) photovoice study.
