Fire Academy Online Learning update

July 11, 2012

Guest Post from Mr. Rick Dunn, Online Training Coordinator at the S.C. Fire Academy.  You can follow him on Twitter @SCFAOLC  The SC Fire Academy’s Online Learning Community (SCFAOLC) continues to grow! A new feature of the SCFAOLC is a section called the Open Enrollment Academy. Open-enrollment courses can be taken free of charge and they do not require an SC Fire Academy registration. Instead, students must simply create an account on the SCFAOLC or other sponsoring website. Also new is the online course “Modern Construction Considerations for Company Operations,” developed by the International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI). This course was originally produced a few years ago by ISFSI as a train-the-trainer program in a DVD format. The SC Fire Academy has converted the content into a web-based course in an effort to reach more firefighters throughout the state. Building construction has changed through the years and company officers and firefighters must keep up with the changes. Several external courses hosted by the IAFC, NFA and NFFF also are linked on the SCFAOLC at http://scfaonlinetraining.org Open Enrollment Academy. Come see for yourself!
