Explorer and Jr. Firefighter Competition to take place during Fire-Rescue

The annual Explorer and Junior Firefighter Competition is Saturday, June 12 at 2 p.m. The competition consists of two events: Gear Donning and Team Hose Deployment. The family-oriented event is part of the 2021 Fire-Rescue conference at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

The competition is limited to active members of a BSA Explorer Post or Junior Firefighter Program sponsored by a Fire Department covered by proper insurance. Each team or individual must fill out a registration form and waiver found on the Fire Rescue website.

Every competing department must provide one advisor to serve as a judge. No SCBAs will be provided for the gear donning event; participants must bring their own SCBAs. Scheduling allows for minimal SCBA to be needed for the gear donning event as competitors from the same department will be scattered in the line-up.
