EMS Transition/Refresher Courses

From our partners at DHEC... March 09, 2012 The SC Advisory Council has approved the structure and content for each level of the EMT refresher course to include the required transitional material. Attach to this CIS announcement are two documents:

All SC Authorized EMT training programs will now include the transitional content in all refresher course offerings. Since the National Registry requires specific information on the course completion certificates, instructions are provided in these documents to assist the training institutions in properly documenting the transitional material for individuals who are Nationally Registered. For Approved IST Training Programs: IST Training Officers may use these documents to update their individuals (Basic & Paramedic) to the new standards. Since the National Registry requires specific information on the course completion certificates, instructions are provided in these documents to assist the IST Training Officer in properly documenting the transitional material for individuals who are Nationally Registered. Intermediate 85 to Advanced EMT: The EMT-85 must successfully complete a formal I-85 to AEMT Transition Course. These courses are currently offered through South Carolina’s approved Advanced Training Institutions. The course also requires successful completion of an in-house NR AEMT Practical examination and successful completion of the NR AEMT written (cbt) examination.
