The EMS Committee is dedicated to reaching goals this year. We are currently working on building a survey to obtain much needed answers from the members we serve. This survey will assist us in determining the needs of our members pertaining to EMS related issues. It should be available on the Association website in the very near future, and we encourage you to take part. The EMS Committee members are determined to work with the SC Fire Academy to help promote the Emergency Medical Responder program to the next level by offering more classes state-wide. We are looking at ways to lower costs, such as locating textbooks regionally and training materials that can be returned at course completion. We are also researching the Affordable Health Care Act and the effects it is having on fire-based EMS services across the nation. We hope to add a few EMS related training topics to the website over the year as well. We are excited about this year and determined to move forward.
