Guest post by Mr. Greg Lindley, Director of Fire Services for Laurens County As many of you already know, yesterday was a terrible day for the Ekom Volunteer Fire Department. They lost their station, all apparatus, and all of their equipment in a massive fire. The Office of Laurens County Fire Services will be the POC for anyone, or any agency that is wanting to help this department. Currently, one of our stations has given Ekom FD a fully equipped Engine to use, and we do have them operating out of a building in their fire district. Even though the building, contents, equipment, and apparatus are all covered by insurance, the insurance will not replace everything that they lost. This department is in need of the most basic stuff. We are working on getting them PPE for four firefighters, so that has been handled. But in the near future we may have a need for some additional apparatus for them to use once we have additional locations to house vehicles. Also if any departments have adapters of all kinds, hose, nozzles, salvage covers, fans, fire extinguishers, etc, that you would like to donate, please contact me. If any department would like to donate equipment to the Ekom Fire Department, it can be brought to the Laurens County Fire Department at 94 Ranch Rd, Laurens, SC, 29360. If any department would like to make a donation to the fire department, an account has been setup at Provident Community Bank in Laurens, 206 Hillcrest Dr, Laurens, SC, 864-984-2531 Also, I would like to personally thank everyone who has called wanting to help Ekom Fire Department.
