No-Brainer Management is developed around the six basic categories of regular organizational behavior that bosses must prepare for, manage and then somehow survive. Those basic categories involve the critical management/leadership categories of:
- Personal effectiveness
- Inside/outside customer connection
- Performance management
- Behavior management
- Organizational alignment
- Creating & maintaining an effective organizational environment
Developing an understanding and planning an effective response to each of the six categories prepares the boss for a majority of the challenges a manager must face. It is smart for us to produce a well thought out; practiced game plan for the regular, recurring, day-to-day stuff that always seems to occur. Putting that plan in the boss’s performance ‘bank’ frees us up to produce a more effective response to what we don’t expect (but always seem to occur). NBM creates that effectiveness launching pad capability foundation based on the opportunity to actually practice functional boss behavior routines in a safe educational setting. The class will apply the material presented in each section to a real life case study. The case studies are written around a fire service situation that has actually occurred. The class will be divided up and assigned various functions or organizational positions/roles and each group will make a presentation to the class on their findings; together the presentations should showcase a complete response to the case study. The case studies are discussion based fun to do and provide the opportunity for the students to actually apply the class material to an actual situation.
Every course participant will receive a seminar manual that contains an expanded written version of the material presented during the two day program.
