Announcing SC Fire Training
May 19, 2016
Announcing SC Fire Training on the web, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram—Four great ways to share training resources and information!
In 2012, a development team was formed to look at ways of providing continuing education and training resources to the fire service in South Carolina. Out of these meetings, SCFireTraining.com was created. The concept of a “Mall” was explored where training resources were placed in categories so training officers and firefighters could spend less time searching and developing and more time leading and learning. This concept relied on the fire service engagement and sharing previously developed training. The site was created but one key element was missing, someone to manage the site.
On April 1, 2016, the SCSFA brought Rick on board to manage and expand SC Fire Training into a fully interactive training source. During this first phase, SCFireTraining.com was updated to a fully mobile compatible web-based resource and populating it with current and relevant training sources from across the country. New and exciting additions are planned in the future to include live broadcasts and resource tracking.
What is SC Fire Training?
SC Fire Training is a multimedia approach designed to assist South Carolina firefighting and emergency response personnel with daily, weekly, and monthly resources to meet their continuing education training needs. More than just a website, SC Fire Training incorporates social media and online learning systems to provide training information for emergency responders everywhere. SC Fire Training provides multiple convenient channels for firefighters to share training resources and other important information with each other.
The website SCFireTraining.com provides a home base for South Carolina firefighter and emergency responder training and continuing education. SC Fire Training’s topic-based format means firefighters don’t have to endlessly search for specific training materials. Within each topic, you can easily find online courses, websites, presentations, nightly or shift-based drill ideas, videos, simulations, and other training materials. Bookmark SCFireTraining.com in your browser! Follow @SCFireTraining on Twitter and Instagram, and “Like” SC Fire Training on Facebook.
How can you contribute?
Training officers, company officers, instructors, and firefighters can submit links, documents, or other materials that may benefit others across our state and beyond. We need your input to help the SC Fire Training community grow! If you have ideas for drills or other types of training or would like to share materials you developed for your crew or department, we invite you to actively participate in the discussion. Submit materials to the SCFireTraining.com contribute page, so others can benefit from them. Post information and photos to our social media channels about your training activities and successes.
