A letter from the Executive Director

On behalf of the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association, we are excited for our upcoming 117^th annual Fire-Rescue Conference. We are grateful for the opportunity to host each of you as we return to Myrtle Beach, SC June 8-11, 2022. We look forward to another exciting conference with great training, networking and vendor showcase that makes our conference a unique experience. This packet includes several items detailing specific events and opportunities throughout the week. In addition to the information found at https://scsfaevents.org/fire-rescue/, I encourage each of you to download the Association’s App and keep an eye on social media and email messages with the latest updates.

Lodging

Additionally, lodging in the surrounding area of Fire-Rescue is extremely limited and prices have elevated. Business Meeting

As part of the SC Fire-Rescue experience, the SC State Firefighters’ Association will be holding its annual business meeting for its members on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 10:00 am. During that time, executive committee members, staff and fire service partners will be providing updates to programs, benefits and opportunities that impact our entire fire service.

Departments Requesting Membership

The following departments are requesting membership to the SC State Firefighters’ Association in accordance with our Constitution and By-Laws. Committee and staff have vetted each request to ensure that all requirements have been met. Based off current information, the following fire departments will be offered membership:

Mountville VFD
Bonneau Rural
Cedar Mountain
Harris Creek
Marion City

Election of 4th Vice President

There are currently two candidates running for the 4^th Vice President seat to serve our membership. Please visit https://scfirefighters.org/about/executive-committee-elections/ to find each candidate’s letter of intent as well as short videos regarding their campaign.

Voting for the 4^th Vice President will be conducted electronically by those voting members selected in the database. Voting will begin on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 and end at noon (12:00pm) on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Each voting member will receive an email from [email protected] with a secure link to SurveyMonkey to cast their vote. This link cannot be shared and can only be used once. Please encourage your voting members to ensure that if they serve as a voting member for more than one department, that they must have a separate email (can’t use the same email). Please contact the Association and provide that additional email address, otherwise they will only be able to vote once.

Also, without a unique working email they will not be able to vote. So, please ensure that voting members in your department have a unique email address to receive a ballot email. Assignment as a voting member of your department is the responsibility of the chief, or his/her designee, using the Association database.

This link, Fire-Rescue 2022 Packet provides items we ask that you share with your department to include flyers with QR codes to register for conference, Foundation golf tournament, how to become a conference volunteer, pre-order conference t-shirt and challenge coin; as well as letters of intent from two 4^th Vice President candidates and voting member information.

It is important to our Association that we all take advantage of every opportunity possible to be involved. For more than 117 years, our Association continues to be strong because of the involvement and commitment of its members.
