GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under limited supervision, coordinates the operation of all Fire Departments created and under
the jurisdiction of Union County Government. Serves as liaison between all Special Purpose Fire
Districts and Union County Government. Reports to Union County Supervisor.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as liaison between Fire Service and Union County.
  • General oversight of all County Fire Departments under the jurisdiction of Union County.
  • Upon the recommendation of the various county fire district boards, appoints the chief of all
    county fire departments. In the event of a vacancy of the position of chief at a fire department,
    the coordinator shall appoint an interim chief until a chief is selected.
  • Works with department chiefs to develop and present a departmental budget to the boards of the
    various fire districts
  • Ensures all fire personnel are adequately trained according to their position to OSHA/NFPA
    standards.
  • Reviews and approves all major equipment purchases.
  • Reviews all multijurisdictional contracts for fire protection and works with all parties involved to
    finalize the terms of said agreements.
  • Updates and maintains standardized operating procedures for all county departments.
