Job Posting Department Training Officer August 3, 2021 The North Spartanburg Fire District is currently seeking applications for the department training officer. This position will be assigned to day work and subject to a 40-hour workweek. This position requires a highly motivated and self-driven individual who requires minimal supervision and is eager to learn and teach. Some of the job responsibilities for this position are: - Organizing shift training - Maintaining appropriate records of training and training hours. - Developing training based on NSFD guidelines, procedures, employee manual, and organizational standards - Supervising the shift training officers - Ensuring training program adheres to appropriate local, state, and national standards - Overseeing applications to the SCFA, the NFA, and other training-related schools - Receiving requests for and providing budget requests for training and conferences - Developing and managing the NSFD training facility - All other duties as assigned The following will be the minimum requirements for this position: - Possess a high school diploma or recognized equivalent - Possess a valid South Carolina Class E driver’s license or CDL - Current certification as NFPA Firefighter 2 - Current certification as an SC EMT or higher - At least five years of full-time experience as a firefighter - Current certification for Fire Instructor II - Must pass a criminal background check Desirable qualifications are as follows: - Bachelor’s degree in fire science or related field - Documented teaching experience - Current instructor with the SC Fire Academy with active IOW’s Department benefits package includes: - Starting salary range for training officer is $46,121 to $52,000 depending on qualifications - Paid time off - Family medical insurance (fully paid by department) - SC PEBA Police Officer’s Retirement. - Supplemental accident insurance policy - Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance (fully funded by department) - Salary bonus for college education Resumes will be accepted until August 31, 2021, and should include a cover letter indicating any training and experience you will bring to the position and describe how you will positively impact North Spartanburg and the fire service while serving in this position.
