Full-Time SC Fire Academy Campus Instructor (Program Coordinator I), Salary Range $34,331.00 - $63,524.00 Annually, Job #60028952/60028124-119155 PROGRAM COORDINATOR I (RESIDENT COORDINATOR/LEAD INSTRUCTOR) - FIRE ACADEMY, Visit careers.sc.gov for job posting. Teaches as a lead instructor for the SCFA in Industrial, Municipal, ARFF, Hazardous Materials, and/or Rescue firefighting programs, both on and off site, which requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and/or the use of a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), entering burn buildings with smoke present, fighting live fires on training props (both in and outside), raising and lowering ladders, climbing ladders, and/or moving equipment that averages 100lbs. Teaches and conducts other SCFA courses as assigned. Serves as a member of the site emergency team at the State Fire campus, including responding to site fires or incidents. Markets, plans, and/or coordinates SCFA Industrial, Municipal, ARFF, Hazardous Materials, and/or Rescue courses as assigned to include registering students, billing and preparing customer contracts, and submitting student payments after course completion. Develops and/or reviews training programs. Assists in the set up of fire equipment and props as required. Performs minor maintenance of fire and rescue equipment and props. Drives a state vehicle or fire apparatus as needed. Supervises instructors, staff, and/or inmates as needed with assigned work or courses. Performs other duties as assigned. A high school diploma and relevant program experience. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's License and provide a 10 year MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays in inclement weather and in hazardous environments. Overnight travel and the ability to drive a state vehicle. Ability to climb a ladder, lift objects over 100 pounds, wear PPE (to include fit testing for respirator use and successful completion of required OSHA compliant medical physical), and work within IDLH environments. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three years instructional experience in fire prevention, fire protection, and/or related courses.
