WFFD is seeking to hire a Fire Lieutenant. The purpose of the class is to supervise and participate in the activities of firefighting crews on assigned shift, including but not limited to fires, hazardous material incidents, and rescue operations; to accurately document all fire calls, and to perform related supervisory and technical work as required. This position works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. Fire Lieutenant may be responsible for an engine or truck company and may supervise the entire Department’s activities in the absence of their Captain or a higher-ranking supervisor. The Lieutenant’s full job description can be discussed if contacted for an interview. The position will work a 24-hour shift on and 48 hours-off rotation shift schedule. Qualifications for this position are: Minimum 5 years as Firefighter II, current Fire Officer (or obtain within 1 year of hire date), Associate’s Degree or some college is preferred. Minimum EVDT, Pump Ops I, and Class E Driver’s License. National Registered EMT-B (preferred or obtain within one year). Must also have the following requirements: NIMS 300, PICO, STICO, Incident Safety Officer, Leadership III, Media (Rural Training), NIMS 701a, 702a, and 703a, and ICS Haz-Mat, Fire Lieutenants may also be required to obtain other technical or professional certifications as deemed necessary by Chief Garrett.
