The purpose of the class is to supervise and participate in the activities of firefighting crews on assigned shift, including but not limited to fires, hazardous material incidents and rescue operations; to accurately document all fire calls; and to perform related supervisory and technical work as required. This position works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. Fire Lieutenant may be responsible for an engine or truck company and may supervise the entire Department’s activities in the absence of their Captain or a higher-ranking supervisor. The Lieutenant’s full job description can be discussed if contacted for an interview. The position will work 48 hours on and 96 hours off rotation shift schedule.
Qualifications for this position are - Minimum 5 years as Firefighter II, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Associate’s Degree or some college is preferred. Minimum EVDT, Pump Ops I and Class E Driver’s License. National Registered EMT-B. Must also have the following requirements. NIMS 300, NIMS 400, PICO, ICS Haz-Mat, STICO, Incident Safety Officer, Leadership III, Media (Rural Training). Fire Lieutenants may also be required to obtain other technical or professional certifications as deemed necessary by Chief Garrett. Candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical, TB and drug screening and SLED check after offer is made.

Salary: $55,860.49 without EMT $58,800.51 with EMT
