The Tyger River Fire Department will be accepting applications until February 20th, 2024. Shift Positions are scheduled on a 48/96-hour basis. Certified and non-certified may apply. Pay Range • Uncertified: $38,500 (must successfully complete the first available SC Fire Academy recruit school for job retention). • Certified: $41,201 (must have current SC Firefighter II certification) Additional Incentive Pay • Current EMT-NR $1,000 • Associate’s degree in related field $1,000 • Bachelor’s degree in related field $1,000 • Class A or B driver’s license endorsement $500.00 • Additional Incentives Available Benefits • SC Police Officer’s Retirement (PEBA) participation is mandatory. • Additional retirement plan through the SC Firefighter’s Association (voted in by the membership). • PEBA Flexible Spending Plans: Pre-Taxed savings for dependent care spending. • Employee Assistance Program: Confidential professional counseling • Additional Life and Injury Insurance paid by the department, accident/dismemberment, long term disability, spouse and/or dependent life insurance. • Medical  Employee premiums paid by the department.  Dependent insurance premium is based on dependents covered. • Vacation accumulated by pay period. • Sick leave 72 hours annual • Six (6) paid floating Holidays annually.
