The Batesburg-Leesville Fire Department is a community-focused team committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. We are a combination department that serves a small, tight-knit community, where each member plays a vital role in making a positive impact. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and dependable individual to join our team as a full-time Firefighter/Engineer. As a Firefighter/Engineer you will be responsible for responding to fires, emergencies, and hazardous situations to ensure the safety of the community. This role involves performing a variety of duties, including fire suppression, search and rescue, medical assistance, equipment maintenance, and community outreach. Key Responsibilities: • Respond promptly to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and other emergency situations. • Perform fire suppression, rescue operations, and first aid as needed. • Operate firefighting equipment, tools, and vehicles effectively and safely. • Maintain and inspect fire equipment and apparatus. • Participate in regular training drills and continuing education programs to improve skills. • Assist with community outreach programs and fire prevention education. • Work collaboratively with fellow team members and other emergency responders. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief or Supervisor. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • Valid South Carolina Class E Driver’s License or CDL with tanker & air brake endorsements; • IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter I & II • South Carolina Fire Academy Hazardous Materials Operations certification (or equivalent) • South Carolina Fire Academy Emergency Vehicle Driver Training course (or equivalent) • South Carolina Fire Academy Pump operations Training course (or equivalent) • National Registry EMR, or EMT • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 Salary and Benefits Info: Salary range based on qualifications, medical, vision, dental, life insurance, annual leave, paid sick leave, and SC Police Officer Retirement.
