MAJOR DUTIES Mitigates emergency situations dealing with fires, hazardous materials, rescues and emergency medical incidents and resolves non-emergency incidents. Ensures that the station is kept in an orderly fashion and that station apparatus and equipment are properly checked and kept in good working orders. Updates fire pre-plans and creates and updates maps for all City departments and other outside mutual aid agencies. Gives instruction to the general pubic regarding Fire Prevention and safety. Attends training to include driving, rescue tool uses and other training to keep informed about new techniques. Assists with community projects and events. Performs fire hydrant updates twice a year. Conducts flushing and hose testing yearly. Maintains cleanliness of station. Provides yard maintenance at the station. Completes reports on EMS and fire calls, training, hydrant and hose tests. Serves as back up to co-workers. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent; Full time post-high school employment of at least three years; Non fire service employment and post high school education are applicable; Two years experience in Firefighting and EMS; EMT-B certification required, SC certification minimum with ability to obtain National Registry certification within one year of hire; National Registry, preferred; IFSAC or ProBoard Firefighter I Certification, preferred; IFSAC or ProBoard Firefighter II Certification, preferred; Valid Driver's License, required; must obtain SCDL within 30 days of hire, Class E preferred; required after 60 days of hire.
