This is an exceptional opportunity to join our team as an entry-level firefighter at the Roebuck Fire District located in Southern Spartanburg County. The Roebuck Fire District is a very diverse district covering 22 square miles including many high-hazard industrial facilities, residential communities, farmland, and interstates. Along with providing fire service to the Roebuck Fire District, the companies of the district respond as a proud part of the Spartanburg County Auto-Aid Group. The Roebuck Fire District has an immediate opening for one (1) entry-level firefighter / driver operator position. An entry- level firefighter / driver operator performs general duties under the supervision of a Fire Captain. Responsibilities include protection of life and property through firefighting, technical rescue, emergency medical response and related duties/ tasks as required and/or assigned. This position works a 24/48 alternating shift schedule. Starting salary is DOQ. Competitive benefits package available. Minimum Education and Experience: • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED • One (1) year of experience as a firefighter. Required related certifications: • (NFPA 1001) Firefighter II • (NFPA 472) Hazardous Materials Operations Preferred related certifications: • SCFA Emergency Vehicle Driver's Training (EVDT) • SCFA Pump Operations 1 • First Aid,CPR and AED training. ***Once hired, the preferred certifications must be completed within the probationary period. IFSAC or ProBoard certifications preferred where applicable. Courses that are demonstrated as professional standard equivalents will be considered. Additional Requirements: • Be at least 18 years of age at the closing date for the posting. • Be a United States Citizen. • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License from your residency state. • Candidate must submit and pass a criminal background check. ***Position of Public Trust (No felony or crime of moral turpitude convictions). • Must pass an annual NFPA physical and drug screening. • Must pass an annual physical agility test of job-related tasks.
