Lateral Firefighter with Experience: ***Covid-19 Vaccine Not Required*** ***$5,000.00 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates*** ***Position eligible for SC PEBA Earnings Limitation Covid-19 Exemptions*** Credentialed Firefighter Candidates must possess the following certifications prior to applying: • IFSAC or Pro-Board NFPA Firefighter II Certification • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (or higher) with ability to obtain South Carolina DHEC Credential within 1 year of date of hire • Minimum of 3-5 years of career experience • Copy of full transcript and copies of all certificates pertaining to this posting • Complete County of Lexington Application with three (3) professional references detailing work experience • Copy of DD-214 for veterans or confirmation of military service for those still actively serving • Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to obtain a South Carolina Class E Driver’s License or Commercial Driver’s License with proper endorsements within one year of date of hire. Qualified applicants will be required to successfully complete the following prior to employment offer: • Candidate Pre-hire Physical Agility Test • Oral interview board • Department Vo2 physical, minimum of 30 (condition of employment) Indoctrination Training: • 8-week training program o SCFA Emergency Vehicle Driver Training course o SCFA Rescuing Our Own and SCFA Rapid Intervention Team o SCFA Flammable Liquids and Gases o LCFS Culture, Customs and Courtesies, and Administration o Successful completion of firefighter skills and abilities evaluations o Lexington County Medical Standing Orders Credentialing • 6-month probation period post-INDOC course Maintain highest level of ethical conduct and professionalism. Under general supervision respond to fire, medical, and other calls for service. Provides a wide variety of duties related to fire suppression in order to ensure public safety and welfare. Exercises judgment and safety in all fire and rescue related activities. Works under stressful, high-risk conditions. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
