The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Fire Inspector to join our team of professionals. The Fire Inspector will be responsible for conducting plan reviews, code analysis and inspection duties to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes for commercial and multi-family residential structures within the Town. The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a team environment and must be committed to high standards of safety and service. For complete job description: https://hiltonheadislandsc.gov/jobs/specs/fireinspector.pdf Qualifications • High School diploma • 3 years’ experience as a Firefighter or Fire Inspector • Certified IFSAC/ProBoard Firefighter 1 & 2 • Certified Fire Inspector I (ICC or NFPA) • Certification as a Fire Plans Examiner (ICC or NFPA) within 6 months of hire • Certification as SC State Fire Marshal within 6 months of hire • Valid Driver’s License • Training equivalent to Haz Mat Operations in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed This is a non-exempt position (eligible for overtime) with a hiring salary range of $56,432 - $71,952 (DOQ).
