Job Duties: This position is responsible for supervising, planning, and directing the overall operations of the City of Hanahan Fire Department; to include, fire suppression, hazardous materials response, public education, fire prevention, emergency medical services, and technical rescue. Develops and submits proposed annual department operating budget and periodic capital improvement plans for review by City Administrator and City Council. Exercises purchasing and budgetary control; directs the preparation and analysis of records and reports to secure efficient operation of the department. Reviews time keeping software for accuracy and approves payroll. Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree from an accredited four-year college in Fire Science Technology and Fire Suppression, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum ten years of progressively responsible experience in fire department operations and administration; of fire service experience and no less than five years in a supervisory capacity. Possession of National Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification prior to assuming this position. NREMT Paramedic (Preferred) Fire Instructor and valid CPR certification (required). Successful completion of NIMS/ICS Incident Command or equivalency (IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800) and successful completion of ICS 300 and ISC 400 prior to assuming position. Certification as NFPA, IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter II. Continued classroom training in administrative and supervisory techniques and procedures, firefighting tactics, and subordinate firefighting training. Possession of a valid South Carolina Class E driver’s license. Pay Info: $76,538 - $83,282 annually How to apply: Candidates are encouraged to apply prior to October 31st.
