OSHA Beta Test

Thank you for volunteering to participate in the beta testing of the EMS Subpart of the new 1910.156 SC State OSHA Plan for Firefighters. You were selected based on your of prior work or subject matter expertise in perfecting and helping in developing this regulation.This process is vital, and as such, your participation is vital. Full disclosure of what is expected and required are outlined below.

To participate in this review, you will need access to a computer and the internet. To gain better participation from the fire service, travel is minimized but online participation is required.

You will be expected to complete all 4 parts in this OSHA review process within a short time period after the process begins. The steps are:

Each of these steps will be important and it is expected the entire work time for the process is at minimum 8 hours.

Agreeing to and participating in this process ensures that the state’s fire service is offered the best OSHA regulation we possibly can have and have minimal problems during the adoption process.  Your participation is appreciated greatly.

Deadline for Step 1: November 21

Step 2: Read, take notes, think on the ramifications, and discuss the following page document.
Please read in detail the proposed regulation and think of how it will apply to your department. Use your previous knowledge skills and abilities in taking detailed notes of issues or questions you may have. Click the link below to download the document.

Deadline for Step 2: December 1

Step 3: Participate in one of four scheduled virtual meetings. 
This is a time for live discussion, questions and answers after you had reviewed the document. The date and times for the scheduled meetings are:

Deadline for Step 3: The week of December 1

Step 4: Complete an online question and comment form/process to offer final comments.
This final requirement, and most important, is the collection of your thoughts and feedback. All participants who have completed the first three steps will be sent the link to the form.
