South Carolina Fire Heritage Center

Preserving the past and protecting the future of South Carolina’s fire service

The South Carolina fire service is rich in history, and the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association is pioneering the next chapter with the purchase of a new, state-of-the-art facility that will house the South Carolina Fire Heritage Center alongside modern training, education, and community learning spaces. More than just a building, this facility represents a commitment to preserving our proud history while advancing innovation, excellence, and public education. Designed for versatility, it will serve as a place where firefighters can train, learn, and refine their skills—and where community groups, safety teams, and partner organizations can come together to learn, collaborate, and grow.

Why your support matters

Your donation helps us collect, restore, and protect the artifacts, stories, and traditions that shaped the fire service in our state. From antique apparatus to personal gear, we’re saving history for future generations to experience.

We’re creating a state-of-the-art facility where firefighters can train, learn, and refine their skills. Designed for versatility, this space will also welcome community groups, safety teams, and partner organizations to learn, collaborate, and grow together.

With your help, we’re building a museum that will engage visitors of all ages through thoughtfully curated exhibits, displays, and programs. Past, current, and future firefighters are all guaranteed to learn something new by studying our past.

Your gift will help create a space where firefighters can see their dedication appreciated and where their families can take pride in their service. This is a place to recognize the evolution of firefighting and the many leaders it took to get us to where we are today.

Many of our most valuable artifacts are in storage units. Your contribution ensures we can save and properly display these powerful pieces of history before they’re destroyed by the weathering of time.

Fewer peoples are prouder of their state than South Carolinians. We share a strong sense of heritage, loyalty to our communities, and take extreme pride in our first-class hospitality. We’re known for taking care of each other. Help us take care of our firefighters.

Will you help us?

Your donation to the South Carolina Fire Heritage Center through the South Carolina Firefighters Foundation is tax-deductible. You will receive a charitable donation receipt for your records.

Benefiting the membership

South Carolina firefighters are the heart of everything we do. The mission of the South Carolina Fire Heritage Center is to preserve our state's fire service history for current and future generations. This is a place where the evolution and innovation of the fire service will be proudly and properly displayed, and where your service is seen, respected, and celebrated. It's where we preserve the legacies of the leaders and visionaries who dedicated their lives to progressing the fire service.

In addition to the South Carolina Fire Heritage Center, the property will also house multiple classroom-type training rooms and board rooms. As our Training & Education programs and partnerships grow and expand to meet the needs of the membership, this new location's occupancy will allow us to host numerous classes or meetings at a time, centralizing and streamlining our efforts.
