Bio Rick Cramer

A native South Carolinian Rick was born and raised in the Lowcountry, more specifically Bluffton. After graduating high school from Hilton Head High in 1988, Rick entered the United States Air Force where he honorably served for six years on active duty. After his initial enlistment Rick left the military and returned home to South Carolina to pursue a career in Public Safety.  After volunteering for the Bluffton Township Fire  District for a number of months, he was offered a career opportunity in the Spring of 1997.  While serving the citizens of Bluffton Fire District, Rick worked his way through the ranks and served in roles as Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief of Training and Deputy Chief Operations. Rick served the Fire District well until March 2021 when he was selected to become the Fire Chief of Clemson University Fire and EMS.  

Rick obtained an Associates degree from Kieser University in 2011 and a Bachelors degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University in 2015. Rick also graduated in 2014 from the SC Firefighters Association Leadership Institute. He has served as a member of the Health and Safety Committee, Chaired both the By-laws and Member Benefits Committee and currently Chairs the SC Firefighters Insurance Services board.

Rick is married to Susan and they have a beautiful daughter Megan that is currently pursing a degree from Liberty University.
