Bio Mike Norket

3rd Vice President

Deputy Chief Norket began his emergency services career as a volunteer for MB Rescue Squad at the age of 15 as a junior member. In 1986 Chief Norket became an auxiliary member of Myrtle Beach Fire Department, and was hired full time in 1987. Mike received his SC Paramedic certification in 1989, and is still certified as an EMT-P. Mike holds an Associates and Bachelor’s degrees from Columbia Southern University. Chief Norket rose through the ranks for MBFR from 1987-2016 retiring as the Deputy Chief. In 2016 Mike began a career with Horry County Fire Rescue as the Deputy Chief, and currently serves in that role.

Chief Norket enjoyed volunteer time with Surfside Beach Fire and Conway Fire Department over the years. Mike was one of the original members of SC Task Force 1 serving as a Search Team Manager. Mike has served as the Region 4 Firefighter Mobilization Coordinator since 2014.

Chief Norket graduated from the SCSFA Leadership Institute in 2012 as part of LI Class 2. Following graduation Mike became a Training & Education Committee member, Training & Education Chairperson for four years, and Conference Committee Chairperson for three years.

Mike is married to his wife Ginger who is a nurse, together they have 3 kids. A daughter Jordan who is a high school teacher, Cody serves as an Engineer with Conway FD, and Dakota who is a security analyst in Washington DC. Mike and Ginger enjoy being outdoors on the water with their two Boykin Spaniels Kimber and Jackson.
