Bio Mickey Folsom

Assistant Chief Folsom leads the Columbia Fire Department Administration Division, including research, procurement and maintenance of the department’s facilities and fleet, apparatus, supplies and equipment. His responsibilities also include oversight of a $40 plus million-dollar budget that encompasses both the City of Columbia and Richland County along with supervising and assisting personnel in aspects of emergency scene activities to include safety, accountability, and welfare. Chief Folsom serves as administrative liaison to Columbia Fire Department’s partners; keeping abreast of administrative strategy implementation and the challenges encountered during day-to-day operations. With more than 26 years of experience in firefighting, he holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Chief Folsom’s professional mantra is “Working Together to Forge A Better Process”. He believes that coming together as “ONE” propels us to provide optimal service to our citizens and personnel.
